"My bite has been completely ruined after wearing a bite splint prescribed by Dr. Mayekar for TMD. Ironically, Dr. Mayekar himself told me that wearing a splint only at night wouldn't produce any permanent change to my bite. The splint didn't cover my upper wisdom teeth on either side, and as a result, they super-erupted. This has left my bite totally misaligned. I've since stopped wearing the splint and am now dealing with an anterior open bite, where my front teeth don't touch at all. To make matters worse, on my last visit, my molars were drilled without my consent, on the claim that it would "improve" my bite. If you're dealing with TMJ issues, I'd strongly advise against going to them. I now have to get Invisalign, along with veneers or crowns, just to undo the damage."
